Submitting Articles to TankTalkBrendan Heussler

TalkTalk is the oldest running publication that the American Section has had.  It started in print form and is now entirely online.  From the start, it has relied on member submissions for content.  That is still the case today.  This guide will hopefully shed some light on how to submit a TankTalk article.  Anyone can do it!  If you have a topic in mind or a project you’ve been working on, chances are other people will want to read about it.

Pictures!

Pictures are a really good to have if you want your article to get attention.  Every post that has pictures gets considerably more views than every post that doesn’t.  If you are posting a project, people want to see what you did!  So please remember to get some good pictures of racing, projects, or whatever your article is about.

Option 1 (Preferred)

The best way to submit an article is with Google Docs.  It functions a lot like Microsoft Word, but it’s much easier to share with other people.  Create a document and share it with webmaster@usa505.org.

Once you have done that, write your article as you would.  The webmaster will be able to consume it and publish it to TankTalk.  Any formatting or images you add will be preserved.

Option 2

You can write up your article in an email and send it to webmaster@usa505.org.  We read every email that comes in and we will absolutely post an article you send.  This option is a little harder if you have a lot of images to send because of the limitation of email.  This is great if you have a regatta report to get out and don’t have a lot of time.

Social Media

Generally, you don’t have to worry about social media.  We post to Facebook whenever we publish a new article to TankTalk.  Instagram also posts every once in a while to help promote the fleet.  If you would like to specifically make a social media post, ask the webmaster and he will probably cater to your request.
